Router help

The mobile access feature in InboxGuardian requires Internet access to allow a connection from a mobile device. Without this access mobile devices will be unable to connect and therefore unable to retrieve spam free mail.

Your router needs to know where InboxGuardian is in order to forward the connection request from the mobile device. This feature is called Port Forwarding and is available in most modern routers.

The first stage is to verify the IP address and port numbers required to enable the port forwarding feature. To do this:

1. Open InboxGuaridan.
2. Click on the Mobile Access tab and choose Server Settings.
3. Locate the port numbers and IP addresses for both management and mail server.

This process is shown in the image below:

So for the example in question the settings are:

Management Server IP address: 192.168.0.101 Port: 81
Mail Server IP Address: 192.168.0.101 Port: 110

So now we know the settings required to set up port forwarding. Another piece of information that may be required is protocol. The required protocol is TCP in this case.

The Flash video below will show an example of setting up port forwarding. The router in the example is a NetGear model DGND3300v2.

The video may take a few seconds to load, simply click the the play button at the bottom to start the video once loaded.
