This tutorial assumes you have successfully added at least one email account to InboxGuardian. If you are yet to add an email account see this tutorial.

This tutorial is designed to help you integrate with Mozilla Thunderbird (8.0)

1.

The first step is to note the settings required for each email account.

This is done by going to the Accounts tab, selecting an email account and clicking the Edit button, as shown on the right.

2.

Now that we're integrating you may want to consider enabling the Unsure tab (if you haven't already).

The reason for this is simple, once integrated only email from your Clean tab will be accessible to Thunderbird.

Once enabled any email that isn't marked as Clean or Spam will be left in the unsure tab for your approval.

This ensures that you only ever get Clean email in your inbox!

3.

The second step is to note the Email Client Integration settings shown at the bottom of the edit mail account dialog as shown on the right.

In this case the POP server is 127.0.0.1 and the port is 110.

The username and password are usually the same. The only time this can change is when two accounts have the same username.

4.

Open Mozilla Thunderbird, click to highlight the account you want to integrate.

This should bring up a list of mail settings for that account.

Click on the View Settings For This Account option.

5.

This dialog is where the settings from InboxGuardian need entering.

The first settings is the POP server. Another name for this is Incoming Mail Server. Simply enter the number shown in InboxGuardian, in this case 127.0.0.1.

Make sure the Port setting matches the port number shown in InboxGuardian. In this case 110.

Make sure Connection Security is set to None. Don't worry, your email is still secure as it's InboxGuardian is connecting to your email. The connection between Thunderbird and InboxGuaridan is local to your computer and is therefore secure.

The log on information shouldn't change, if it differs then make the changes in the section shown.

Click Ok when finished to return to your Inbox.

6.

The process is now complete.

If everything has gone correctly Thunderbird should now connect to InboxGuardian to get your email.
