Accounts/Email Integration

Q: What is integration?

A: A detailed description of what Integration is can be found here.

Q: Can I use InboxGuardian without having to change my email client settings?

A: This is most likely due to a problem during integration. Check the settings InboxGuardian is using for each account and make sure they match your email application. To find the settings for each account go to the Accounts Tab, select the account in question and click the edit button. The local InboxGuardian settings are shown in the email integration section.

Q: Can I use InboxGuardian without having to change my email client settings?

A: The short answer is yes. InboxGuardian can be used without changing your email client settings. You can still connect to your email account using InboxGuardian to delete spam and unwanted emails and then use your email client to get your email. This is how the spam filter in eMailTrackerPro worked before being moved to a new product, this functionality has not been removed.

Q: Since changing my email client settings I can no longer get my email, how come?

A: InboxGuardian has to be open and running in order for your email client to receive email once you have changed your email settings. If you have InboxGuardian running and your email client set up and are still experiencing issues please contact support.

Q: I want to move from eMailTrackerPro to InboxGuardian, can I keep my settings etc?

A: All your mail accounts, filters, whitelist and blacklists can be kept when moving to InboxGuardian. Click here for more information on how this is done.

Functionality

Q: I have accidentally deleted an email I needed, how do I get it back?

A: All deleted emails are kept for a user defined number of days and can be recovered. There are two tabs to the right of the main inbox tab. One of these is Deleted. Click on this tab and locate the email you accidentally deleted. Once located click on the delete link for that email so it changes to keep and then click the clean mail button. This action will move the deleted email to the Clean tab and therefore make it available to your email client.

Preferences

Q: Can I instruct InboxGuardian to check for email periodically?

A: Yes. Click on the Preferences tab followed by the Mail Settings button. Check the Automatically process mail ever x minutes option and choose the number of minutes you want to check for mail automatically.

Rules and Filters

Q: Emails that should match my filters aren't being picked up, why?

A: If an email isn't matching ANY filter when you think it should then the likelihood is that something small is wrong in the actual filter itself, double check the filter settings and verify that the email in question should match.

If an email is being picked up by a filter, but not the filter you expected it to then the email in question is more than likely satisfying criteria in two filters. The filter list is processed in the order in which they appear. So if an email matches two filters it will always be picked up by the first in the list.

If an email matches a filter then InboxGuardian will tell you which filter it is picking up. This is shown in the Rule column next to the email in question.

Mobile Access

Q: The router and firewall check comes back negative, how do I fix this?

A: There is no way of telling if it's the router or firewall that is blocking the connection to InboxGuardian so the best thing to do is check both. This tutorial will go through the set up process.

Q: I want to use an IPv6 address for my mobile settings, how do I do this?

A: Click on the Help Tab and click on Console. Type "allowipv6=true" and hit the enter key. A message success message will be shown and the next time you go to the mobile settings the IPv6 settings should be available.

Errors

Q: I get a Java 10021 error when installing/running InboxGuardian, what do I do?

A: This error normally means that a corruption has occurred within Java. The best thing to do is uninstall all the instances of Java on your machine and then download and install the latest version. Once this has been done InboxGuardian should install/run correctly. If not please contact support.
